Day 24

So this morning Lola didn't wake me up early - for the first time since... well, 24 days!

Every morning she seems to wake up about 5-6ish and insists on charging backwards and forwards between her cage and playpen; digging and shredding the newspaper in her bed; moving her food bowl around.

Also, yesterday was the first full day I've spent at home with her - apparently the morning is spent being very active, then she spends the whole afternoon being lazy :P

Apologies for the poor picture quality - my mobile was closer to hand than my digital camera!!

Day 17

So at the weekend we bought Lola some things:

  • a large purple litter tray and recycled litter pellets
  • a large red dome/house
  • a little toy
The litter tray she has done extremely well with - only the odd poo escapes, but mostly she's doing her business in the litter tray, which i'm so happy about! She seems to like sitting in it munching on hay --
The dome/house she has only used to chew at - i think she's only actually been inside a couple times - she seems to prefer sleeping outside it, so I have moved it into the run so she has more space to lay down in her cage. Hopefully she will start to use it soon though -
She loves the little ball that we got her - made of intertwined twigs. She enjoys throwing it around and chewing on it!

Another thing she seems to love is brussel sprouts! strange but she's eaten two in the last two days - every last bit!

Day 11

Just a quickie - a short clip of Lola attempting to rearrange my bed for me!

Day 10

So Lola's playpen arrived and has been set up. I laid down bin liners with towels on top, so that any 'mistakes' don't soak through to the carpet - plus the towels mean her digging and chewing (hopefully) won't ruin the carpet underneath!

I've set the playpen up so that she can easily hop between it and her cage - in the hope she will eventually learn to do all her poops and wee in one corner of her cage, rather than all over the place (as you can probably see in the picture)

She's proving to be rather cheeky and a slight attention-seeker - although I'm sure many other rabbits are like this!
She has a habit of thumping her feet on the floor when no one's paid her attention for a while, and also chewing at the cage closest to the bed (as this is where we spend most of our time chillaxing ! )
Hopefully over the next few weeks she will become better litter trained and less destructive so she can spend more time out in her playpen.
I have read that apparently getting her spayed may make her less destructive - but we shall see!

Day 7

So Lola has been with us almost a whole week, and she's definitely been making her self at home!
She seems to like sitting on my bed watching tv with me, or just charging around the place like a nut-job. I've googled rabbit behaviours, and apparently the funny little jumps she does are called Binkies so I guess it means she's loving living here :) I have bought a puppy playpen so she can spend more time outside of her cage, unsupervised; because at the moment I'm having to sit on the floor with her whilst she's busy charging around - making sure she's not digging and chewing at the carpet, or messing everywhere! However, she's much better now - she seems to have litter trained herself to go in one corner of her cage - only 3 wees on the carpet this week! Anyway, more updates soon x

Day 1

Well today (7/11/11) we welcome baby Lola the house rabbit into our little family :)

Born in September, she is only a few months old, but already very sociable and friendly.

A lovely dark grey all over, with one lop-ear.

As she's going to be trained as a house rabbit, this evening she's been allowed to hop around the flat, exploring her new home - currently she's sat on the bed next to me :)

Many more pictures to follow soon x
